We've all been there: we order a parcel from Amazon, but nobody is in to take the parcel from the delivery guy. But, amazon have a plan to change this.

Launching in November in certain parts of the US, Amazon are introducing their self-named Amazon Key starter kit. This compromises of a camera and smart lock, which will use technology to let your delivery driver open the door, leave the parcel and re-lock your house.
As soon as a driver arrives with a parcel, the house owner will receive a notification to their phone via the Amazon app, which will allow them to watch the driver (should they wish) in action via the cloud connected camera.

Whilst it is just a trial, the service is available to Amazon Prime members, and will retail at $250 (£189).

For the system to work, a delivery driver must request access to the house via the smart lock at the property. Only when Amazon verify that the right driver is at the right location at the right time will the encrypted system allow entry.
This delivery service will only work if of course you have purchased and installed the Amazon Key system, but also if you have selected in-home delivery when completing your purchase.

What do you think to this? Would you be prepared to let Amazon enter your home?
